ALQAMI APPOINTS MARIA SHIAO AS DIRECTOR, SALES & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Maria Shiao as Director, Sales & Business Development. Maria is renowned for building new solutions and partner ecosystems across converging industries. With her 20 years’ experience in successfully scaling new businesses and markets for leading telecoms and IT companies, Maria’s involvement will play an integral part of Alqami’s technology platform launch and data solutions business. Maria will work with David Riley, Chief Commercial Officer, to grow Alqami’s data monetisation services for large corporations wanting to embark on these opportunities, as well as expand Alqami’s Smart Cities client base.

A Few Words about Maria Shiao

For more than 20 years, Maria has developed new businesses and markets for leading telecoms and IT companies such as AT&T, IBM (Next Generation Networks, Smart Industries, Cloud), Cisco (IoT, Industrial Internet and Smart Cities), as well as industrial groups Halma (Life Safety, Manufacturing) and bp (Industrial edge computing and ML/AI). She has a particularly deep experience in building new solutions and partner ecosystems across converging industries.

An active business angel, Maria invests across a number of technologies, sectors, and countries. Her area of predilection is IoT, Industrial, Energy and Smart Cities, with a particular focus on proprietary data sets. Maria also invests with a number of business angel groups, is a deal leader in an angel fund, and a jury member for the European Commission’s flagship EIC Accelerator programme.

A native of Spain, Maria has also lived in France, the USA, Belgium, and is based in London. She holds a BS (Honors) in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, a Master’s Degree in Electronics from Telecom ParisTech, and an MBA (Honors) from ESSEC.
